The Gnomes of the Underdark and other RPGs usually have one recurring character: David. This character isn’t insane. He has traits like Speak Fluent Animal, Can't Argue with Elves, and Telepathy. He can also be seen putting up road signs in an attempt to scare people. David and Lisa may have a rivalry.

How To

How to stain wood

Staining wood is the process of applying chemicals to the wood's exterior, which alters its color. This chemical reaction causes the wood to change from white to brownish red. Oak is the most commonly used wood for staining, but other woods can also be stained.

There are many options for applying stains to wood surfaces. Mixing the stain in a solvent such as turpentine and spraying it onto the wood is one method. Others use a solution made up of water and dye, which is then applied directly onto the wood. Stains can also be mixed into paints and varnishes, becoming part of the finish coating.

Preparing the surface is the most important step in staining wooden surfaces. The wood must be thoroughly cleaned to remove all grease and dirt. Sanding the wood removes scratches and imperfections. The next step is to determine the type of stain you would like to use. Penetrating stains are different from non-penetrating. Penetrating stain penetrates deeper into wood than nonpenetrating, making them suitable for dark colors like mahogany. Non-penetrating oils work best when used with light colors, like maple.

After deciding on the type of stain, you want to apply, prepare your tools. Because you can spread the stain evenly with a paintbrush, it is ideal for applying them. After you're done painting, make sure to have some rags handy to remove any excess stain. If you plan on mixing the stain yourself make sure that you have enough containers to hold the different components.

Once you have prepared all your materials, it is time to clean the areas where you will stain the wood. Use warm water and soap to clean away dirt and dust. Use a dampened rag and clean water to wipe the furniture. Make sure you eliminate any loose debris, especially if you plan to stain darker wood.

Apply the stain. Start at one end of the piece of furniture and brush or spray the stain onto the wood. Move slowly and carefully along the grain of your wood until you reach its opposite end. Make sure that the stain does not drip off the edge of the wood. Before proceeding to the next step, let the stain dry thoroughly.

A coat of clear polyurethane sealing agent is applied to protect the paint. Apply three coats with polyurethane. Let the third coat dry overnight before you sand the final coat.
